Temple Administrator – Full-time, Long-Term, Temple B’nai Torah, Wantagh NY

Temple B’nai Torah is a Reform Temple on Long Island, NY. We are located 35 miles east of Manhattan. The Temple Administrator works alongside and in partnership with the Rabbi, Cantor, Educator, and lay leaders to minister to approximately 500 families. The Executive Director is a member of the senior professional staff.

Our large cadre of volunteers and lay leaders work together in sacred partnership with our professional staff to enact our vision, mission, and values.

The ideal candidate should have outstanding interpersonal skills, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and an attention to detail. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter. They should be vibrant, friendly, helpful, mission driven, and comfortable working with a multi-generational membership. The Temple Administrator will provide day-to-day management of the entire Temple facility, administration, and finances. This candidate will supervise the administrative and maintenance staff.

The Temple Administrator will report to and is accountable to the President (s) of the congregation, on behalf of the Board of Trustees.

Responsibilities will include (but are not limited to) the following:
• Supervise the day-to-day operations of the office
• Supervise the administrative and maintenance staff
• Oversee the day-to-day maintenance and repairs of the facility
• Oversee security
• Work with lay leaders and senior staff to support and manage membership retention and new member engagement
• Oversee the incoming and outgoing mail process
• Manage all Temple communications, publications and publicity alongside the communications committee
• Maintain the Temple calendar
• Provide administrative, logistical and on-site support as requested for the smooth running of all Shabbat, High Holy Days, Religious School, festivals, lifecycle and general Temple services, programs and activities
• Process payments including reimbursement, accounts payable and payroll
• Maintain congregant database for accurate information
• Assist with and present opportunities for grant writing
• Assist with the scheduling and processing of all Temple rentals including collections, contracts and availability of staff
• Attend board and committee meetings as appropriate and requested
• Maintain maintenance records and help negotiate maintenance contracts
• Assist with all marketing activities
• Assist in maintaining fiscal records, reports, and budget
• Assist with donation collections
• Oversee the financial support for congregants, fundraising, and all other expenses
• Serve as a liaison between the Congregation and the community to promote visibility and good reputation as a member of the community

Qualifications and experience:
• Experience supervising and running an organization
• Highly motivated
• Self-starter
• Proficient with technology, including web-based communications, and file sharing
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Team builder/member with senior staff, personnel, and lay leaders
• Great communication skills
• Shulcloud and Quickbooks experience a plus
• Grant writing experience a plus
• Website design and maintenance a plus
